Woofun AI reports that Shinhan Asset Management has executed a quadripartite memorandum of understanding with the Solana Foundation, Etherfuse, and Orca. The agreement establishes a proof of concept for issuing Korean won-denominated tokenized funds, structurally mirroring BlackRock's BUIDL fund. Under this model, overseas institutional investors acquire ultra-short-term Korean won bond funds managed by Shinhan, with holdings represented as tokens. The initiative addresses KYC/AML protocols, security audits, blockchain operations, compliance standards, and on-chain liquidity design. Lee Seok-won, CEO of Shinhan Asset Management, stated the objective is to establish requisite capabilities upon implementation to lead the market for Korean won digital financial products. This development follows the South Korean National Assembly's passage of an STO legal framework amendment in January this year, scheduled to take effect in February 2027.
