Woofun AI reports that Micron has designated $10 billion for the creation of Micron Research Labs, a multi-decade initiative targeting breakthroughs beyond current technology roadmaps. The facility will collaborate with customers, suppliers, academia, and government agencies to drive early-stage innovation, building on a portfolio of over 62,000 secured patents.

This investment supplements Micron's cumulative $250 billion commitment to U.S. manufacturing, projected to generate more than 90,000 domestic jobs across engineering, technical, and supply chain roles. The company asserts that U.S.-manufactured memory chips are foundational to the future AI economy, positioning Micron as a key leader in this sector.
