Woofun AI reports that Stand With Crypto, the advocacy arm launched by Coinbase in 2023, has formally endorsed 32 candidates for House of Representatives seats ahead of the 2026 US midterm elections. This strategic intervention targets legislators based on their digital asset policy views, aiming to secure favorable regulatory outcomes through direct electoral influence.
The slate of 32 candidates was announced on Monday as part of a broader effort to shape digital asset policy within the federal government. Stand With Crypto selected politicians it describes as "proven digital asset policy champions," specifically focusing on competitive races where its advocate numbers are most likely to influence outcomes. Mason Lynaugh, executive director of the group, stated that "Crypto Voters have become a durable, motivated voting bloc, which has the potential to swing key congressional races in the midterms." This follows an initial wave of endorsements in March, when six candidates—three Republicans and three Democrats—were backed after advancing from primaries to compete in the November election.
The political maneuvering occurs against a backdrop of urgent legislative deadlines for the Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act. While the House passed this comprehensive crypto market structure bill with bipartisan support in July 2025, the Senate's consideration has been stalled by debates over ethics, tokenization, and stablecoin rewards. Per Woofun AI, the Senate is scheduled for a cloture motion upon returning from recess on Sept. 15, but the chamber will have only 14 days in session before the November election. Post-midterm, lawmakers will have another 22 days before 2027 to return the bill to the House, after which it could proceed to the president's desk for approval.
Executive pressure has intensified, with President Donald Trump recently standing alongside crypto CEOs and executives to urge the Senate to pass a "fair version" of CLARITY.
However, the Trump family's financial ties to the industry pose a significant complication, with a majority of Americans deeming these crypto investments not "appropriate" in a recent poll. This public sentiment adds a layer of scrutiny to the legislative process, potentially affecting how senators vote on the measure.
The intersection of targeted political endorsements, legislative urgency, and public scrutiny defines the current landscape for crypto regulation. Stand With Crypto's involvement in the 2026 midterms underscores the growing power of digital asset stakeholders in shaping federal policy. As the CLARITY Act faces its final hurdles, the outcome will likely depend on both electoral shifts and the resolution of ethical concerns surrounding industry ties.
