Woofun AI reports that the Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Liquidity Fund (grBENJI) is now available to Asian digital asset investors through a distribution partnership between financial giant Franklin Templeton and Hong Kong-regulated crypto exchange Hashkey. This strategic alliance addresses the rising institutional appetite for yield-generating instruments backed by real-world assets on regulated digital platforms.
The deeper driver is the explosive growth in tokenized U.S. Treasury and money market funds, which have expanded by 1,500% to reach $15 billion over the last two years, according to data from rwa.xyz. This surge underscores a structural shift in how professional investors access traditional fixed-income yields via blockchain infrastructure.
Per Woofun AI, the fund provides exposure to U.S. government money market products and U.S. dollar cash assets through a tokenized wrapper representing claims on underlying assets. Franklin Templeton brings global scale, managing $1.8 trillion in assets across more than 35 countries, while Hashkey operates under Type 1 and Type 7 licenses from Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission. These licenses permit securities trading and automated trading services, complementing Hashkey's recent announcement of cross-border stablecoin transactions with the UAE and the wider Middle East region using the regulated Hong Kong digital dollar, HKDAP.
Both entities intend to broaden their collaboration beyond money market funds into other tokenized products over time. This expansion signals a continued integration of traditional asset management frameworks with decentralized finance infrastructure in regulated jurisdictions.
