Woofun AI reports that Bithumb has initiated a temporary suspension of Tether (USDT) withdrawals specifically on the Tron network, a move designed to address underlying operational requirements without disrupting broader exchange functionality.
The operational halt is scheduled to commence at 2:00 p.m. UTC on July 18, establishing a strict cutoff time for pending transactions. While this specific channel is closed, other tokens and networks remain fully operational, ensuring that the exchange’s core infrastructure continues to function normally during the maintenance window.
Such pauses are typically driven by network upgrades, wallet maintenance, or security checks rather than acute failures. As the largest stablecoin by market capitalization, USDT relies heavily on the Tron network for its low fees and fast transaction times, which are critical for arbitrage, liquidity, and cross-exchange transfers.
Woofun AI data shows that traders dependent on these efficiencies must pivot to alternative networks such as Ethereum, Solana, or Binance Smart Chain during the outage. Although Bithumb has not linked the suspension to any security incident, the measure is precautionary in nature, aiming to preserve system integrity.
This routine operational measure is expected to cause only short-term inconvenience, with similar past pauses lasting from a few hours to a couple of days. Users are advised to monitor official channels for updates and plan their transactions accordingly to mitigate potential delays.
