Woofun AI reports that the Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI) has been designated as a founding partner in the US State Department’s Freedom Tech Excellence Program (FTEP), integrating Bitcoin advocacy into federal diplomatic efforts on digital rights.
The initiative aligns BPI with Palantir Technologies, Anduril Industries, and the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation to execute limited-term assignments focused on online freedom of expression, privacy-enhancing technologies, countering digital surveillance, and responsible AI governance.
Woofun AI data shows these partnerships aim to embed private sector expertise directly within State Department operations to defend global digital freedoms.
Established in 2021 as a non-partisan research and advocacy group, BPI has actively supported legislative efforts to codify US President Donald Trump’s executive order regarding a strategic crypto reserve. This alignment underscores the institute’s broader push to institutionalize Bitcoin policy within federal frameworks.
Despite these advocacy efforts, legislation to formalize the strategic crypto reserve has not passed US Congress as of July, following Trump’s March 2025 executive order. The delay highlights the ongoing friction between executive directives and legislative action in the digital asset space.
