Woofun AI reports that Bitcoin breached the $71,900 threshold, igniting a cascade of short position closures that CoinGlass data confirms exceeded $3.1 billion.
This volume represents the largest single day of short destruction ever recorded, while the $1.65 billion figure does not represent the largest liquidation in absolute terms. In contrast, long positions faced a cascade of liquidations totaling $20 billion, ranking seventh all-time with $3.25 billion wiped out on that specific day.
Structurally, less than 155 days elapsed before investors seized the rally to exit positions held at a loss, sending 43,300 BTC to exchanges. Per Woofun AI, the SOPR indicator climbed to 1.01, its highest level since April, confirming assets were transferred at a price above their previous transaction cost despite the STH realized price sitting at $68,700.
Analysts had warned that any recovery could be stalled by selling pressure as profit-taking intensifies.
