Woofun AI reports that TAC, an EVM network linked to TON, has halted validator block production after confirming a supply exploit compromised its Cosmos-based EVM side. The project asserts the vulnerability affected only the TAC token supply, yet the operational pause leaves the status of the TON bridge connection in darkness.
Structurally, the current outage contrasts with the May incident, where TAC recorded total protocol losses of $2,854,486.22 as of May 12 at 10 p.m. UTC. During that earlier event, the sequencer set connecting TAC to TON was halted while the TAC EVM layer remained fully operational.
The deeper driver is the ambiguity surrounding state-reconciliation; it remains unclear whether native, wrapped, bridged, staked, exchange-held, or protocol-controlled TAC balances must be verified before validators can agree on a canonical state. Available evidence does not confirm that every category of these balances was impacted by the latest breach.
Notably, TAC's official notices failed to disclose critical metrics, including the unauthorized TAC amount, dollar loss, exploit transaction, block height, vulnerable component, affected wallets, user losses, or a restart timetable. Per Woofun AI, the team also omitted an explanation for why the problem could not be isolated below the full-chain level. This lack of transparency obscures the technical specifics of the Aug. 22 incident, leaving the reconciled supply figure and the precise scope of the exploit undefined.
The halt raises significant questions about the network's resilience, as the conditions for resuming operations remain undisclosed. Without published technical details or a confirmed root cause, the broader operational response appears reactive rather than diagnostic. This marks a critical juncture where the absence of data prevents any definitive assessment of the exploit's long-term impact on the ecosystem.
