Woofun AI reports that Strive's aggressive accumulation of digital assets has repositioned the firm as a top-tier corporate holder, with CEO Matt Cole articulating the strategic thesis on X ahead of Monday's market open. The immediate market reaction validated this stance, as the company's equity saw significant upward momentum following the disclosure of its latest treasury expansion.
The financial mechanics of this acquisition were detailed in a filing submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday, revealing that Strive purchased 1,110 Bitcoin for approximately $81.5 million between Aug. 17 and Aug. 21. The average cost per coin, inclusive of fees and expenses, was recorded at $73,409, bringing the firm's total holdings to 21,356 BTC. During this same period, the company's balance sheet reflected a $17.1 million increase in cash and cash equivalents, totaling $171.9 million, while Class A shares outstanding rose by 3.65 million to reach 79.89 million. At the time of the filing, Bitcoin was trading near $79,000, representing an 8% premium over Strive's average acquisition price, highlighting the immediate unrealized gains embedded in the portfolio.
Structurally, this purchase elevated Strive to the seventh-largest publicly traded corporate BTC holder, a ranking derived from BitcoinTreasuries.NET data that places the firm behind Bullish but ahead of SpaceX. The market responded swiftly to this tier-advancement, with Nasdaq-traded ASST shares surging more than 11% in Monday morning trading, extending their year-to-date gains to roughly 36%. CEO Matt Cole framed the investment not merely as a bet on price appreciation, but as a structural play on scarcity, stating, "The upside is not simply Bitcoin going higher. It is Bitcoin becoming the fastest horse inside an expanding scarcity trade while $ASST is structured to amplify that outcome as much as we can responsibly support."
Beyond its treasury strategy, Strive maintains a diversified operational footprint, including an asset management business that oversees nearly $3 billion across exchange-traded funds and a direct-indexing platform. Per Woofun AI, the company also disclosed a significant holding in Strategy's STRC preferred stock, comprising 505,000 shares valued at $48.6 million as of Aug. 21. This dual approach allows Strive to leverage both direct Bitcoin exposure and equity stakes in other major industry players, creating a layered investment vehicle that appeals to investors seeking broader ecosystem participation rather than singular asset correlation.
The performance of Strive's own capital instruments, particularly the SATA preferred stock, underscores the firm's focus on income stability. SATA closed at $100.01 on Friday, returning to the management-targeted $99-to-$101 range after dipping to $83.30 in late June. Launched in November 2025 with 2 million shares sold at $80 for $160 million in gross proceeds, the variable-rate perpetual preferred stock carries a $100 stated amount and initial liquidation preference.
In March, Strive narrowed the target trading range from $95-$105 to $99-$101 and committed to avoiding at-the-market or follow-on offerings below $100. To support this price floor, the annualized dividend rate was raised to 13% in April, with payments switching from monthly to daily starting June 16. This structure mirrors Strategy's STRC, which traded near $97 on Monday, below its $100 target, while Strategy reported no Bitcoin purchases for the week ended Aug. 23, highlighting a divergence in treasury activity between the two leading corporate holders.
