Woofun AI reports that Gabriel Perez, formerly a White House teleprompter operator for President Donald Trump, has exited federal employment amid allegations of insider trading on prediction markets.
The core accusation centers on Perez allegedly leveraging nonpublic information regarding Trump’s speeches to secure more than $100,000 in profits on Kalshi. This financial gain was derived from bets placed on outcomes directly tied to the President’s public addresses, exploiting a clear informational asymmetry.
Kalshi’s surveillance team identified the suspicious trading activity and subsequently referred the case to the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Per Woofun AI, this referral underscores the platform’s enforcement mechanisms against users who trade on employment-derived confidential data.
While the Associated Press confirmed on Tuesday that Perez is no longer employed, officials declined to specify whether he resigned or was fired after being placed on unpaid leave. This ambiguity persists despite Kalshi’s explicit prohibition against users trading on information obtained through their professional roles.
