Woofun AI reports that Germany has significantly expanded its dominance in MiCA licensing, driven by the inclusion of six cooperative banks in the latest ESMA register update. The newly authorized entities include Raiffeisenbank Aidlingen, Ihre Volksbank, VR-Bank Mittelfranken Mitte, Volksbank Euskirchen, VR Bank Ried-Überwald, and Volksbank Backnang.
The European Securities and Markets Authority updated its records on Friday, bringing the total number of authorized crypto asset service providers to 331. Compared with the Aug. 12 snapshot, these six additions were exclusively German institutions. Germany now holds 79 licenses, a substantial increase from 57 in late June, while France trails with 35 and the Netherlands with 29.
Woofun AI data shows that BaFin attributed this surge to Germany's large financial sector and the eligibility of numerous credit institutions for crypto services. In June, the regulator explained to Cointelegraph that pre-existing national licensing regimes allowed some CASPs to utilize simplified authorization procedures during the transition to MiCA.
Other token registers remained static, with the asset-referenced token list empty and the electronic money token register holding 43 entries. The non-compliant entity list stayed at 167, indicating no new enforcement actions were recorded in this update.
