Woofun AI reports that Kinetiq has officially unveiled Elysium L2, a Layer 2 solution engineered to optimize the throughput of HyperEVM and stimulate spot market activity within the Hyperliquid infrastructure. This strategic deployment targets inherent performance bottlenecks in the current architecture while introducing a new value-capture model to counteract recent declines in liquid staking metrics.
Structurally, the existing HyperEVM environment faces significant throughput limitations, characterized by transaction fee spikes during periods of high demand and a complex dual-block structure. This architecture splits operations between small fast blocks and larger slow blocks, creating inefficiencies in order transmission. Elysium addresses these constraints by operating as a high-speed EVM environment directly connected to HyperCore. The network utilizes HYPE as its native token for gas fee payments, a technical integration designed to significantly reduce latency and streamline execution speed across the protocol.
The deeper driver for this architectural shift is the need to revitalize liquidity within the protocol's spot segment. Official documentation indicates that spot volumes and HIP-2 liquidity levels had deteriorated to multi-month lows by the end of August. To reverse this trend, Elysium incorporates a high-speed execution environment for proprietary automated market makers (PropAMMs). This mechanism enables direct access to HyperCore's order book data, facilitating a seamless end-to-end asset lifecycle. Tokens can launch on an AMM, build initial liquidity, transition to the spot market on HyperCore, and eventually qualify for perpetual contract listings under the HIP-3 standard.
Notably, this launch occurs against a backdrop of contraction in Kinetiq's core liquid staking market. On-chain data from May 2026 reveals that HYPE's share in liquid staking plummeted from 10.42% to 4.42% of the total network stake. This decline followed a 62% decrease in circulating kHYPE compared to August 2025.
Furthermore, the total value locked (TVL) of kHYPE recorded an additional drop of nearly 18% over the past four weeks. Analysts from the Bankless report noted that relying exclusively on staking yields constrained the protocol's growth avenues during these prolonged deposit outflows, necessitating a diversified revenue approach.
Per Woofun AI, the Elysium framework introduces a complementary value-capture stream for the KNTQ token through its sequencer operations to mitigate these headwinds. The tokenomics mandate that 50% of sequencer fees will be used to buy back KNTQ on the open market for burning. The remaining 50% of fees are split equally, with 25% allocated to the Kinetiq treasury and 25% designated as developer incentives. Team projections suggest that diversifying revenue streams could ease pressure on traditional yield products, provided Layer 2 transaction volumes maintain steady momentum through this new economic model.
Kinetiq confirmed that complete technical specifications and the official roster of launch partners will be released across the platform's official channels prior to the final mainnet rollout. This phased disclosure strategy aims to ensure transparency and alignment with community expectations before the full-scale deployment. The move marks a significant pivot from pure staking reliance to a hybrid model integrating spot market dynamics and fee-based tokenomics.
