Woofun AI reports that Chainalysis orchestrated 'Operation Lighthouse,' a multi-agency sting targeting child abuse networks, with critical support from Binance and Europol. Danny van Althuis, Europol team leader, emphasized the necessity of cross-sector collaboration to combat these crimes.
The initiative operated out of the National Cyber-Forensics and Training Alliance in New York, launching on Tuesday. It coordinated with global law enforcement bodies, including the Australian Federal Police, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the UK's National Crime Agency, to dismantle these illicit structures.
Woofun AI data shows investigators analyzed over 29,000 cryptocurrency addresses and digital identifiers across more than 100 separate forums. This effort generated 14,000 leads pointing to suspects in 125 different countries, with additional support from Block and the Internet Watch Foundation.
Gavin Sather, senior program manager for anti-child sexual exploitation at Binance, noted that blockchain transparency hinders criminal concealment. This operation underscores the growing efficacy of on-chain intelligence in disrupting global illicit finance networks.
